We strive to bring out the best potential in all children by providing children and families a high quality environment that is loving, engaging, educational and nurturing.

We pride ourself in our Philosophy which outlines what we believe is important for the growth and wellbeing of children.  Our Parent Handbook outlines what we offer to our families, whilst our Transition to School Program ensures the children are ready when they go to school.

Our practice of setting up areas of play that is focussed on children’s interest enable smaller groups to be able to connect and have meaningful conversations. This shared interest encourages children to be able to more easily establish the life skill of making friends. It’s very nice to see them so engaged. #friends ...

Today the Caterpillars at our Sherridon Cr Centre joined their educators to construct and decorate our Christmas tree for our room. We listened to "A wiggly wiggly Christmas" as we danced around the tree using our hand eye coordination to place red and gold baubles on the branches of our tree. We noticed how some baubles were sparkly while others were shiny and smooth using our fingers to feel the different textures.
We wrapped tinsel around and around the tree followed by sparkly star lights. The final touch was putting our beautiful sparkly gold star on the very top of our beautiful masterpiece!!!

Simple provocation for the Adventure group. This will help the children enhance their visual perception and imagination as they get creative to form different shapes using the shape cards provided as a guide. This will also help develop early numeracy when the children begin to count and measure the sticks with mathematical equipment. Can’t wait to see how the children respond to this!

Thanks, Miss Mimi

The children participated in a gift wrapping pretend play to strengthen their fine motor skills. Cutting, measuring and taping, all incorporate numbers, art and motor practices through this sort of play.

We have been collecting recycables such as different sized cardboard boxes to wrap with some wrapping paper. The children were able to express themselves through this sort of play as they have the freedom to use materials. The children also enjoyed navigating the shape of the different recycables. We couldn’t wait to display our wrapped boxes underneath our tree.

Wonderful gift wrapping Excercise- what a great start!

Spring has started at Sherridon and it's a great time to plant. The children were very excited to start something that they will see grow over the next couple of months. Gardening with children is a great way to teach environmental awareness by exploring the wonders of nature". ...

The Adventure children took action to participate in a social and sustainable experience. Along with Adventure, we had a special parent visit to present a brief lesson on how to make wipes. The parent engaged in a large group discussion and each child was able to contribute to this experience with confidence. The children learnt to demonstrate independence and competence in personal hygiene and this was evident when the children began wiping their hands and face once the wipes were ready for use. This will help the children play an active role in contributing to a sustainable future. We love the wipes already! Thank you to the parent who took the time to visit and teach the Adventure class about sustainability. ...

Here is a picture frame of my Adventure children engaged in a fun science experiment. Below is the brief.

The Adventure children became intrigued to join in a science based experiment using basic equipment. Liquid droppers were set up as a simple invitation to explore colour mixing, absorption and water density. Liquid droppers are great for isolating the fingers used for writing and for strengthening hand muscles. In addition, children are able to practice coordination, control and patience which in turn are all very important conventions for handwriting. The Adventure children enjoyed this experience so much that they spent an undisturbed hour experimenting. Well done to the Adventure group! Txs - Ms M.

Learning Blocks explore Aboriginal symbols & visuals
The children are beginning to understand that these symbols are used as a form of communication and that each symbol represents something else by resemblance. The class study these symbols and try to formulate their very own interpretation through the intention of moulding Aboriginal symbols using dough and natural materials. The picture below will not only display the children's ability to explore the diversity of the Aboriginal culture but also their creativity!!
